Who can be a mentor?
This mentoring programme targets professionals already involved in entrepreneurial activities and if possible, in technology, and who are interested in mentoring refugees and migrants in setting up their business ventures in the host country.
Mentors should be able to demonstrate a combination of the following skills and knowledge:
Entrepreneurship: existing entrepreneurial skills.
Technology use: use of technologies and knowledge related to their use and future trends.
Prior mentoring experience: coaching or mentoring diverse target groups in the past.
Interest and motivation: willingness to participate and motivation to learn new things.
Empathy and consideration: willing to work with disadvantaged groups and people from different cultures, show understanding and compassion.
Availability: have the necessary free time to offer for the mentoring process.
Foreseen mentors responsibilities
We expect mentors to dedicate some of their precious time for the following activities that will take place in 2023-2024.
The activities of a business mentor include:
Attendance of online workshops for mentors (approx. 3hrs).
Getting familiar with and attending the on-line course.
Finding (or choosing from the list) 2 mentees.
Communication with mentees, either in-person or virtual, ensures a consistent and supportive relationship (as needed).
Active listening to the challenges and triumphs of their mentees,
Offering constructive feedback, advice, and encouragement.
They may organize or participate in workshops, networking events, or industry gatherings to expose mentees to valuable connections and opportunities.
Engagement also includes helping mentees develop crucial skills, such as effective communication, negotiation, and problem-solving, essential for successful entrepreneurship.
They may write a short report.

What do you get out of mentoring - volunteering?
Volunteering benefits people in need, worthy causes, and the community, but the benefits to you, the volunteer, can be even greater. The right match can assist you in making new friends, connecting with your community, learning new skills, and even advancing your career.
It gives you a sense of achievement and purpose.
It helps you feel part of a community.
It helps you feel better about yourself by improving your self-esteem and confidence.
It helps you share your talents, learn new skills and create a better work-life balance.
Volunteering and mentoring is a two-way process - you never know what you will learn from your mentees.
It will be a great addition to your CV.
At the end of your activities, you will receive a certificate of mentorship.
